Pokemon Sun and Moon constitutes 21st to 23rd season of the everlasting series Pokemon. This series is the most loved series of the pokemon after Pokemon XYZ (19th series of the pokemon) because this is the second time our hero Ash Ketchum becomes a champion years after winning Orange islands championships (2nd series of pokemon). This series is a seventh generation series and in this series you will be able to see pokemons from different dimensions which are called 'Ultra Beasts'.
Overview :-
This series involves the adventures faced by our hero in Alola region where, he went on a vacation with his mother and professor. Ok. Ash Ketchum is fascinated by the new pokemons of Alola region and he becomes energetic when he comes to know about the Alola region championships and decides to take on the championships.
What are Z- Crystals ?
In 19th series of pokemon (pokemon XY series), the trainers used stones to mega evolve the pokemon and these stones were called 'mega stones'. These mega stones were meant only for evolving some pokemons. It could not evolve all kinds of pokemon but pokemon Sun and Moon series brings totally different and new concept of power. In this series the trainers use crystals known as 'z-crystals' these crystals are based on pokemon types. There are all types of z-crystals for pokemon. These crystals hold a great power and is used to give finisher attacks in pokemon battles. These crystals boost the attack of the pokemon, raises its speed thereby giving heavy damage to the opponent's pokemon but it can be used only once in a battle.

Ultra Beasts:-
In this series you will see pokemons from different dimensions as well. These pokemons are called 'Ultra Beasts'. The sole example being Solgaleo and Lunala. Apart from that there is another legendary ultra beast which is also the most powerful Pokémon of Alola region also known as Necrozema. It is said that when Alola region was embedded in darkness, this Pokémon appeared through warmhole and showered its bright light over the whole region and in return, he absorbed whole darkness and became corrupted. For every creatures sake, he escaped to another dimension and went into deep sleep. It is said that Solgaleo and Lunala act as protectors of Necrozema.

To trap Ultra beasts, poke balls can't be used because these beasts hold more power than Pokémon so they cannot fit into poke balls. To trap Ulta beasts, Aether foundation (the foundation that has been created to put a control the dirty activities of the dangerous thugs of Alola region also known as team Skull and to provide medical help to those who bore great damage fighting these thugs. These thugs are mostly poison Pokémon users. Inspite of that, Aether foundation is also researching about warmholes and the Ultra beasts.) has created the next level poke balls also known as beast balls.
Island Deities of Alola Region :-
There are four islands which constitute Alolar region :- Melemele island, Akala island, Ula-ula island and finally Poni island. These islands are said to have Guardian Deities which are legendary Pokémon who are worshipped by the people of the islands. These Pokémons are said to appear in front of trainers who are strong enough to wage battle with them. These pokemons play an important role in guarding the island and also protect the islands from destruction, and outsider attacks.

The fourth island of Alola (Poni island) as meant for his highest peaked mountain named :- Poni canyon. In the depths of these mountain appears a paths which directs one to a hidden place where the warmhole appeared for the first time. These place is meant to summon Ultra beasts. Long ago when Solgaleo and Lunala appeared through this warmhole they collided head to head thereby giving birth to a teleporting Ultra beast called Cosmog. This beast evolves into either Solgaleo or Lunala depending on its gender. To evolve this Pokémon it needs to have power of the stone pillar (known as Altar of the Sun and Moon) which is activated with the help of two flutes :- Sun flute and Moon flute.

Rockruff Evolution :-

The most fascinating evolutions that you will see in this region is the one regarding Rockruff. It is a rock and ground-type pokemon. Based on times in a day, Rockruff can evolve into three types of Lycanroc :- Lycanroc midday form, Lycanroc midnight form and the rarest one being, Lycanroc dusk form. These three evolved form differ in physical appearance.
